The Veräin vun de Lëtzebuerger Archivisten (VLA) has organised a second edition of the Mois des archives and offers activities around the International Archives Day, which is celebrated every year on 9 June. During the whole month of June the VLA presents a series of events organised in collaboration with several institutions. The conferences, debates and guided tours organised are an opportunity to raise public awareness of the relevance of archives in particular and of heritage in general.

Roundtable: Archive Ausstellen - Herausforderungen und Nutzen

An archive's tasks have long ceased to consist solely of taking over documents worthy of archiving, making them accessible according to professional criteria, processing them for use and conserving them. Archives no longer want to make archival materials available only in user rooms, but also to bring them to the general public through exhibitions. However, this raises various questions: How can an archive make its "treasures" accessible to the public and at the same time physically protect them? How can exhibitions consisting exclusively of documents be made exciting? The guests at the round table will explore this tension together with the audience.

Visite thématique & atelier: Quelle drôle d'écriture

Just like the spoken language, handwriting has changed and developped over centuries. For a long time, the German and Latin Antiqua and “Frakturschrift" were official scripts in Luxembourg.

Now it's your turn! Learn how to write in an antique handwriting and use classic utensiles such as quill and ink. The document with your message gets its final touch by adding a personalised seal.
