Gas street lamp from Hollerich

In 1865, public lighting was ensured by 217 lanterns all running on gas: 134 were located in the upper city, 30 in the Grund, 28 in Pfaffenthal and 25 in Clausen. The gas factory located in the valley of the Pétrusse supplied the required energy. The power station started production in 1891. By 1895, it counted 85 clients with 3,400 lamps. The Grand-Ducal palace alone accounted for 1,500 units.
