The 18th edition of LE MUR Luxembourg, which kicks off on Friday 28 March 2025, will feature Belgian artist Élisa Morlet, aka IOTA, one of the rising stars of the contemporary muralist scene. Although her name means ‘the smallest detail’ in Greek, she has made a name for herself around the world for her monumental frescoes. Born in 1991, IOTA began her artistic journey on the streets of Brussels in 2013, where she explored various themes through vibrant frescoes imbued with subtle messages. She has developed a sensitive style of painting in which movement and atmospheric colours oscillate between light and shadow, bringing out enigmatic human figures. Through this approach, she seeks to go beyond the real and plunge the viewer into the abstraction of emotions, revealing the unconscious.
Painting on both wall and canvas, IOTA has perfected a highly accomplished and instantly recognisable pictorial technique. Her work on paper, done in graphite, also bears witness to extreme precision and a psyche oscillating between restraint and release.
